Sigvaris 503-C Knee High 30-40 Open Toe

High Compression Unisex Stockings
Natural Rubber Material

Numerous scientific studies have shown the medical effectiveness of the 500 Natural Rubber Series. The material has a remarkably low 1% to 2% fatigue rate, making the stocking ideal for those with serious indications or long-term therapy.

Manufactured from double-covered elastodien yarn, a yarn made from soft, natural rubber and offering the greatest degree of elasticity while maintaining sustained compression throughout the day.

Easy Wear
Made from a porous, extremely permeable, and highly elastic fabric which makes the stocking easy to pull on and off, even in the higher compression categories.

The knitted fabric is double-covered textured yarn, and therefore retains its shape and is extremely durable.

I have been wearing Sigvaris stockings for a very long time. I am a healthy person with bad veins. My feet hurt all the time and my veins would pop. In the beginning, it was hard to wear the stockings - putting them on - taking them off etc.. They saved my legs. No pain, no swollen legs - no popping veins - no ulcers. I wear them every day. I live in Florida and it's hot. When you find something that makes you feel great - it doesn't matter how hot it is. They are the best ever. Thank you Sigvaris for saving my legs.

I have worn these support socks daily since 1985. They fit & hold up well. Wouldn't wear anything else.

It seems the more expensive the stockings get the more the quality goes down. The compression, this time, is no where near the level it has been in past stockings. The stockings do not hold their shape for very long (an hour or two) and tend to slide down quickly. Have not been able to find a stocking that fits as well as sigvaris in the past due to the mishap of my legs. But I am seriously considering trying to find a better quality stocking for the money.

Been wearing Sigvaris for 50 years. Tried others but nothing compares favorably with the benefits of Sigvaris. Look good, feel good and do the job very well. Worth every penny of the higher cost.

My vascular doctor prescribed Sigvaris compression stockings 30-40 mg. about 50 years ago. I have been wearing them ever since and have avoided surgery and enjoyed the relief they offer. Yes, they are expensive but worth every penny. I have occasionally tried less expensive brands but never had the comfort or results that Sigvaris offers. So now I choose Sigvaris every time and Discount Surgical Stockings offer a discount to the very high price, especially when the value of the dollar drops relative to the Swiss Franc,.

Have used discount surgical for years. It's straightforward. Prices are good. Service is excellent. No hassles.

My vascular doctor prescribed this exact stocking after an inebriated off-duty policeman ran me over in the street in 1989, causing a veinous incapacity just below my left knee. If I don't wear it, after three days I can't bend my ankle due to edema because the blood pools in my leg instead of circulating properly. He insisted I find Sigvaris stockings, and I haven't regretted adhering to his instruction. They do the job, are comfortable, and last a long time. I have looked at other brands and none works as well in terms of breathability and endurance.

Q: when did the price jump to six figures? I can remember paying $65, annoyed when it went to $85, now it's $119? somehow even 20% off an inflated price doesn't impress.
A: We totally agree - the price on these is ridiculous This is one of our favorite products and the price has become unbearable for many of our customers Sigvaris has raised the price of the 500 series for the past 1o years straight We are very sorry - but they set the price These are made in Switzerland and the price for importing them has gone up

Questions that are on Your Mind
Q: Can you help me with sizing?
A: You can view the size chart here: size chart
You will need accurate measurements, so first learn how to measure.
Q: What is compression? What is the difference in compression?
A: You wear compression stockings to improve blood flow in your legs. Compression stockings gently squeeze your legs to move blood up your legs. This helps prevent leg swelling and, to a lesser extent, blood clots.
Q: What does mmHg mean?
A: mmhg stands for "millimeter of mercury", a way to measure pressure. The higher the number, the tighter the garment will squeeze and the more compression it provides.
Q: How can we wash the garments? And with which soap or detergent?
A: We recommend to hand wash in warm water and air dry. You can use mild soup of the washing solution that we provide such as the jobst jolastic, hosiery mate washing solution, sigvaris liquid washing solution etc. See our full washing instructions.
Q: What is the difference between open toe and close toe?
A: There is no therapeutic difference between open and closed toe socks. The choice is yours, whichever is more comfortable.
Q: What is opaque?
A: Opaque is a thicker material that provides great coverage and your skin will be far less visible. Usually worn in winter because of the thickness.
Q: What is sheer?
A: Sheer is a thinner, dressier material. Customer usually like these because they can use them as dress socks for work or church.
Q: Do I get compression at the toe area?
A: No. Compression begins at the ankle and gradually lessens as it goes up the leg. This reduces pooling in the legs and helps the veins return blood to the heart.
Q: Will a thicker material give me more support than the sheer material?
A: No. The compression provided is measured by mmHg and is the same no matter the material. The choice of material is up to you, whichever is more comfortable.
Q: If I get pantyhose will I get more compression than with a knee-hi?
A: No.
Q: Where are you? How's the weather?
A: We are located in Brooklyn, NY. Here is the current weather in our part of town. We hope the sun is shining by you!
