RX 40-50 mmHg Gradient Compression Stockings are generally indicated for more Serious Venous Diseases such as Acute Leg/Ankle Swelling, Varicose Veins, Chronic Vein Insufficiency and Deep Vein Thrombosis.

The benefits of Compression Therapy are plentiful and the reasons vary from person to person why you may choose to wear compression socks or stockings. As shown in the above chart, some of the most prevalent symptoms or conditions that benefit from compression therapy are:

  • Pregnancy related swelling and vein problems
  • Varicose or spider veins
  • Lymphedema or edema
  • Swelling, pain or blood clots in the lower legs, also known as DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis)
  • Poor circulation from sitting for long periods
  • Post-surgical and post-sclerotherapy treatment

It can even be used as a preventive measure to maintain healthy legs for someone who spends extensive amounts of time on their feet. Quite simply, when we stand still for long periods, the forces of gravity increase the pressure within the veins of the legs where the greater effects happen at the ankle and decreases gradually up the leg and body. This pressure depends on the vertical distance of the column of blood from the heart to the foot. That's why gradient compression stockings are designed with the pressure greatest at the ankle and diminishing as it moves up the leg in order to counter the effects of the higher venous pressures.

Compression therapy products are put on in the morning upon arising, which is typically before any significant swelling would occur, and then removed at night. Throughout the day the compression prevents blood from pooling in leg veins, which in turn helps your overall circulation and lessens or eliminates any leg swelling you may have.

When shopping for compression socks or stockings, it is best to measure earlier in the day before swelling builds in the legs. Measurements taken later in the day after swelling occurs may cause you to choose an item that is too large and then not effective.

There are many types of compression socks and stockings available without a prescription and they do offer wide-ranging benefits. Before wearing a compression therapy of 20 mmHg (Firm Compression) and above, it is generally recommended to consult your health care provider to find out if graduated compression stockings are right for you. If the answer is yes, they can tell you what pressure grade you should buy for maximum benefit and relief.

    Fit

I have worn these for years. I tried several brands at first but these last longer and are more comfortable. I ordered my last order before these automatically like usual, forgetting I had lost 40 lbs. The stocking fit pretty well but slide done several times daily. After some thought I measured and realized that near the end of that weight loss I had gone down a size. This order was after I realized my mistake of not measuring and they fit perfectly and stay up all day.

    Fit

After trying several brands I went back to these that my Dr originally prescribed. They are the most comfortable and long lasting. I like the open toe best as closed toe just hurts my toes. I wash then with other cold water, gentle cycle in the washer inside a net bag and they come out fine and last long.

    Fit

I have fat, fat, fat calves and this is the first pair that not only fit, but didn't roll down or give any issues what so ever. There is usually one or more things that are not comfortable and these tick all the boxes for being perfect. Fat calves mean fat ankles and fat feet. These have really solved the swelling issues without digging in at the ankle or rolling down. They stay in place. no adjusting throughout the day. Plenty of toe room. The material is thicker so lots of support and well behaved. I came back and got a second pair. Buying another pair says it all.

Excellent stockings. Very soft, smooth and comfortable. I don't mind wearing them at all and I have been wearing them for years. I am often asked by medical professionals what kind of stocking they are and where did I purchase them. I am more than happy to supply the information.

I have neuropathy in my hands and the 10 -20 are the highest I can pull up. I have used this brand for four years and they wash well, they stay in place, they retain their colors, they are comfortable. Help with swelling after knee surgery. And have kept wearing them. I would like to see white ones. And the Medi word the same color as the stocking on the stocking. Great product. Would recommend them to anyone.
