I LOVE the Medi Comfort line of surgical stockings! I have venous insufficiency issues, as well as diabetes - so need to wear compression stockings pretty much constantly. These are very soft and comfortable, and wear AWESOME! If I were to ask for any improvement, it would be to have a color that is less anemic and more of a suntanned skin color. I will mention that I was accidentally sent the lace top thigh highs, instead of the dot-silicone thigh highs, and had a terrible allergic reaction to the silicone top of the lace-top. Wore them all day, and knew they were feeling itchy and irritated around the tops of my thighs, but when I took them off after wearing them all day, I had solid blisters whereever the silicone touched my skin, and the skin literally came off with the hose! NO problem at all though, with the dot silicone, so much be a different 'recipe'.

I usually wear knee highs but wanted to try these. The feel very nice and stay up. While I couldn't wear them in summer, I think the top band on my thigh may be more comfortable than the one on the knee highs. I have only worn them a few times, but they stay up very well.

This was the second time I had ordered these hose, and I didn't like them as well the second time around. i was fitted for them by a professional, so I knew what to order. They are just different than my first pair. I kept one of them to compare them, and I can visually see the difference in them, even though I ordered the same exact stocking. I was completely satisfied with the company through which I ordered them, but Mediven seems to have changed the stockings themselves. The elastic band on this second pair with silicone beads at the top is considerably narrower than the first pair I bought. They also seem to be much tighter, and more difficult to put on than the first pair. The stocking material seems to be thicker than previously. I am not going to change the brand, because i've been fitted for these, and I know them, but I certainly like the first pair I had better, and they seemed to do the same job.

These are by far the most soft and comfortable thigh high hose that I've ever worn. At first I thought that they were way to short but they pulled up to my crotch very nicely and stayed there all day!!! Will not wear anything other - thanks for a great product.

I order stockings for my elderly mother and it is very difficult to figure out from one order to the next which kind of stockings to order. the stock numbers on the box and the stock numbers on your web site are different. this makes it more difficult to order. I can look at the box on my last order but these numbers on the box are not the numbers you use on you web site.

Q & A

Ask a Question
2 questions for this item
Q: What is the difference between the 'lace top band and the silicone band? I have ordered a number of these stockings and this is the first time I see a choice of bands. Is one more 'gripping' than the other.
A: Lace top is more fashionable and will have a "lace strip" border Silicone is a "dot" border and is more unisex
Q: Does the lace top band style stay up or do they need to be worn with a garter
A: The lace top has a silicone grip that will keep them from rolling
Questions that are on Your Mind
Q: Can you help me with sizing?
A: You can view the size chart here: size chart
You will need accurate measurements, so first learn how to measure.
Q: What is compression? What is the difference in compression?
A: You wear compression stockings to improve blood flow in your legs. Compression stockings gently squeeze your legs to move blood up your legs. This helps prevent leg swelling and, to a lesser extent, blood clots.
Q: What does mmHg mean?
A: mmhg stands for "millimeter of mercury", a way to measure pressure. The higher the number, the tighter the garment will squeeze and the more compression it provides.
Q: How can we wash the garments? And with which soap or detergent?
A: We recommend to hand wash in warm water and air dry. You can use mild soup of the washing solution that we provide such as the jobst jolastic, hosiery mate washing solution, sigvaris liquid washing solution etc. See our full washing instructions.
Q: What is the difference between open toe and close toe?
A: There is no therapeutic difference between open and closed toe socks. The choice is yours, whichever is more comfortable.
Q: What is opaque?
A: Opaque is a thicker material that provides great coverage and your skin will be far less visible. Usually worn in winter because of the thickness.
Q: What is sheer?
A: Sheer is a thinner, dressier material. Customer usually like these because they can use them as dress socks for work or church.
Q: Do I get compression at the toe area?
A: No. Compression begins at the ankle and gradually lessens as it goes up the leg. This reduces pooling in the legs and helps the veins return blood to the heart.
Q: Will a thicker material give me more support than the sheer material?
A: No. The compression provided is measured by mmHg and is the same no matter the material. The choice of material is up to you, whichever is more comfortable.
Q: If I get pantyhose will I get more compression than with a knee-hi?
A: No.
