These socks are too warm, but they cushion my toes when they become irritated by the top of my athletic shoes. Because of a bunion, I have to buy the shoes extra wide and then my foot slips around in the shoe. I wear this sock only on the left foot. I wear the regular Sigvaris 146 Comfort Cotton on the other foot. The 142C is large for my size 7.5 foot, but the extra fabric provides more cushioning and I like that.

I really like these socks. I purchased the same brand a few years ago. The ones I just ordered are new and improved. I love the cushioned heel and toe area. I do not like the toes tight, and these allow for a looser fit at the toes ( without compression). No irritation at top edge of sock. Love these and would order again!!

Previously, I purchased Sigvaris socks made of either wool or polyester from another business. I love all my Sigvaris socks. However, I was looking for white cotton to wear in the middle of summer when I fish and hike spending more time outdoors. I was happy to see Discount Surgical carried them and at a very decent price. Not only cotton in the Sigvaris compressed socks but also cushioned bottom of the socks. I've only gotten out fishing a few times this fall wearing them but they are quite comfortable making my legs and feet feel like they will happily take me much further than even the rest of my body will take me. No swelling at the end of the day which happened when I wore regular socks. I can't wait for the summer season to truly give them a good test of hiking.

I like they had change the label for a printed on the socks. The size is kinda weird, foot part is almost too big, but the leg runs shorter and tight.

Socks are very comfortable - like the yarn very much. Provide moderate support. Wash and dry well. Ordering and delivery was professionally handled and easy.

These socks are very comfortable. My legs no longer ache after a 12hr shift.

These socks do a great job, I wear a size 11 men's shoe and ordered a man's sock the first time, the foot is a little to large in the men's size. The women's size sock lg fit great. I'm a little disappointed because the way they are made my ankle still swells(just the ankle), but since I'm allergic to nylon, the fact that they are mostly cotton is wonderful. I'm have large calf's and they fit very well. I only gave it 4 stars on fit because of the way the ankle support is.

Very comfortable sock to wear during the day when one is up on their feet for the whole day. Also the full length on the calf keeps the legs warm during the cooler days of autumn and winter.

I don't have time to write reviews but I'm making an exception for a great product and great customer service. I ordered these for a 10 hour plane ride. Very comfortable because they are cotton and I had no ankle swelling like I did on my last trip. I posted a note to process the order quickly so I would have them by our travel date. They came quickly and in plenty of time.

Love these socks! Great during pregnancy, prevented my feet from swelling after being on them all day. Would highly recommend them.

Q & A

Ask a Question
Questions that are on Your Mind
Q: Can you help me with sizing?
A: You can view the size chart here: size chart
You will need accurate measurements, so first learn how to measure.
Q: What is compression? What is the difference in compression?
A: You wear compression stockings to improve blood flow in your legs. Compression stockings gently squeeze your legs to move blood up your legs. This helps prevent leg swelling and, to a lesser extent, blood clots.
Q: What does mmHg mean?
A: mmhg stands for "millimeter of mercury", a way to measure pressure. The higher the number, the tighter the garment will squeeze and the more compression it provides.
Q: How can we wash the garments? And with which soap or detergent?
A: We recommend to hand wash in warm water and air dry. You can use mild soup of the washing solution that we provide such as the jobst jolastic, hosiery mate washing solution, sigvaris liquid washing solution etc. See our full washing instructions.
Q: What is the difference between open toe and close toe?
A: There is no therapeutic difference between open and closed toe socks. The choice is yours, whichever is more comfortable.
Q: What is opaque?
A: Opaque is a thicker material that provides great coverage and your skin will be far less visible. Usually worn in winter because of the thickness.
Q: What is sheer?
A: Sheer is a thinner, dressier material. Customer usually like these because they can use them as dress socks for work or church.
Q: Do I get compression at the toe area?
A: No. Compression begins at the ankle and gradually lessens as it goes up the leg. This reduces pooling in the legs and helps the veins return blood to the heart.
Q: Will a thicker material give me more support than the sheer material?
A: No. The compression provided is measured by mmHg and is the same no matter the material. The choice of material is up to you, whichever is more comfortable.
Q: If I get pantyhose will I get more compression than with a knee-hi?
A: No.
