I will need to start ordering mostly toeless thigh high stockings. The feet are not quite long enough in Sigvaris to avoid heavy pressure and pain in the toes. The toeless stockings do not create this pain - UNLESS - you are wearing any type of SHOE with enclosed toes. The toeless stockings do not fit well in athletic shoes, dress shoes or boots. The seam rubs the foot and is quite uncomfortable so we avoid trying to wear Sigvaris "toeless" thigh highs for that reason. We face another problem if we want to wear sandals. It is very difficult to find a pair of sandals which cover support hose. Support hose look like support hose, no matter how sheer. We are truly limited. Sigvaris is the top rated support hose available at this time. I have been wearing the for years. Sigvaris - please make a little longer foot so we can wear the closed toe without so much pain. How about a sheer heel for sandals? Keep working on the sheer hose as I refuse to wear others. We like fashionable or attractive clothing and shoes too. Please do not forget that our feet matter too. They have to take us where we need to go in this life.

One should always be measured for required compression and proper fit. I prefer Sigvaris as they remain in place and look somewhat better than other brands. I have also found Sigvaris to be more comfortable. I do wish the colors could be improved as they still look like the old style support hose. It is difficult to find shoes which cover the hose and it seems we must always have slacks for cover-up. I would also like to have a better way to wash these hose as the Sigvaris Washing Solution does not clean these hose. This is especially true if you use cream on your legs and wait until it is absorbed before hose are pulled on. There must be a better solution for cleaning and removing stains. Perhaps, a mild detergent?

I am very happy with these thigh highs, they fit great and stay up all day. I just wish they were a little longer from toe to heel, because before the end of the day my toes feel like they are going thru the end of the foot.

I love these support hose. They are easy to get on and off and comfortable support while wearing them.

I'm not quire sure as yet. I will say they are much easier to get on, which is a big plus when a person also has arthritis in her hands, but I am wondering how they can contain the swelling when they expand so easily. I checked to see if they were really 30-40 compression. They were.

Q & A

Ask a Question
Questions that are on Your Mind
Q: Can you help me with sizing?
A: You can view the size chart here: size chart
You will need accurate measurements, so first learn how to measure.
Q: What is compression? What is the difference in compression?
A: You wear compression stockings to improve blood flow in your legs. Compression stockings gently squeeze your legs to move blood up your legs. This helps prevent leg swelling and, to a lesser extent, blood clots.
Q: What does mmHg mean?
A: mmhg stands for "millimeter of mercury", a way to measure pressure. The higher the number, the tighter the garment will squeeze and the more compression it provides.
Q: How can we wash the garments? And with which soap or detergent?
A: We recommend to hand wash in warm water and air dry. You can use mild soup of the washing solution that we provide such as the jobst jolastic, hosiery mate washing solution, sigvaris liquid washing solution etc. See our full washing instructions.
Q: What is the difference between open toe and close toe?
A: There is no therapeutic difference between open and closed toe socks. The choice is yours, whichever is more comfortable.
Q: What is opaque?
A: Opaque is a thicker material that provides great coverage and your skin will be far less visible. Usually worn in winter because of the thickness.
Q: What is sheer?
A: Sheer is a thinner, dressier material. Customer usually like these because they can use them as dress socks for work or church.
Q: Do I get compression at the toe area?
A: No. Compression begins at the ankle and gradually lessens as it goes up the leg. This reduces pooling in the legs and helps the veins return blood to the heart.
Q: Will a thicker material give me more support than the sheer material?
A: No. The compression provided is measured by mmHg and is the same no matter the material. The choice of material is up to you, whichever is more comfortable.
Q: If I get pantyhose will I get more compression than with a knee-hi?
A: No.
