I bought Sigvaris on recommendation of my physical therapist after she properly measured my legs. These have been the best stockings I've worn in 4 yrs. of trying on my own to find a proper fit.

I started wearing compression socks a year ago at the suggestion of a doctor to help control pain. I have tumors that run from my foot up to my knee. They are very painful in addition to limiting function. I've been happily surprised at how well compression socks make a huge positive difference in my pain management. Since I live in South Florida and am often in sandals I usually use the open toe version of this compression sock. I've tried several brands and the only one which I like is Sigvaris. The open toe model is very comfortable. I wash them on the delicate setting in the washing machine and let them hang dry. They are lasting very long and maintaining their shape. I just tried the closed toe version and am very disappointed. The toe box is way too small and the seam very uncomfortable to walk in. I'm going to have to return the closed toe versions. The open toe compression socks are wonderfully comfortable and I would highly recommend them.

have tried other brands-but Sigvaris are the only ones that are short enough -- slide on easily with a stocking helper===they stay tight and secure even after many washings.=glad I found out about Sigvaris Compression Stockings,

Due to tumors that run from my foot to knee which cause INTENSE pain, I had to find something to help manage the pain. One of my drs suggested compression socks. Compression socks have helped significantly with pain management. If I wear a sock all day, when I take it off I can usually sleep through the night without pain meds. (Hooray!) I tried 4 different brands at the beginning. SIGVARIS is the only brand I bought a second time. I continue to buy SIGVARIS and am very happy. They are very soft, easy to care for, sturdy. I buy the ones without toes because I'm usually in sandals. I highly recommend this product!

I ALWAYS USED THE HOSE WITH THE SILICONE INSIDE THE TOP TO HOLD THEM UP AND WITH OUT ON THE 18-20 THEY DO NOT STAY UP.

I love the look of these. Really nice for wearing with pants this winter. They are very comfortable. When wearing my boots I put my boot socks on right over the compression knee-highs. I do not know how these should fit. Is my first pair of this brand and style. When placing my order, I did think the 18-20 mmHg compression would be tighter than these are. I don't really need tighter, tho. The band at top is a good fit; doesn't hold to tightly. So is length and foot size. They do slip down, however, and the slippage is so slow I don't even know until they are 1/2 or 3/4 down. Before ordering, I did consult with a Discount Surgical Stockings representative re what size to order.

Q & A

Ask a Question
Questions that are on Your Mind
Q: Can you help me with sizing?
A: You can view the size chart here: size chart
You will need accurate measurements, so first learn how to measure.
Q: What is compression? What is the difference in compression?
A: You wear compression stockings to improve blood flow in your legs. Compression stockings gently squeeze your legs to move blood up your legs. This helps prevent leg swelling and, to a lesser extent, blood clots.
Q: What does mmHg mean?
A: mmhg stands for "millimeter of mercury", a way to measure pressure. The higher the number, the tighter the garment will squeeze and the more compression it provides.
Q: How can we wash the garments? And with which soap or detergent?
A: We recommend to hand wash in warm water and air dry. You can use mild soup of the washing solution that we provide such as the jobst jolastic, hosiery mate washing solution, sigvaris liquid washing solution etc. See our full washing instructions.
Q: What is the difference between open toe and close toe?
A: There is no therapeutic difference between open and closed toe socks. The choice is yours, whichever is more comfortable.
Q: What is opaque?
A: Opaque is a thicker material that provides great coverage and your skin will be far less visible. Usually worn in winter because of the thickness.
Q: What is sheer?
A: Sheer is a thinner, dressier material. Customer usually like these because they can use them as dress socks for work or church.
Q: Do I get compression at the toe area?
A: No. Compression begins at the ankle and gradually lessens as it goes up the leg. This reduces pooling in the legs and helps the veins return blood to the heart.
Q: Will a thicker material give me more support than the sheer material?
A: No. The compression provided is measured by mmHg and is the same no matter the material. The choice of material is up to you, whichever is more comfortable.
Q: If I get pantyhose will I get more compression than with a knee-hi?
A: No.
