I have tried less-expensive brands to try to keep cost down. However, Sigvaris quality & fit are just the very best for me. I'm short, so I wear the short thigh-highs. Not only do I "believe" these are working & have the compression I need, I can "feel" them making a difference. I recommend Sigvaris! Discount Surgical has the best prices, no shipping, quick response. I'm pleased all-around!

I was recently diagnosed with hereditary lymphedema of my legs. The Dr. recommended thigh high with 20/30 compression stockings. I have tried much less expensive stockings. They weren't comfortable and were difficult to get on. I decided to try the Sigvaris stockings. I am VERY HAPPY with them. They are very comfortable. They are as comfortable as a sheer stocking. Sigvaris recommends replacing them when they have been worn for 3 months. I am following their recommendation. The compression is less after that amount of time. I have noticed a great improvement in the swelling of my legs and feet. It is nice to be able to wear my shoes comfortably too. I am purchasing ahead the stockings I need for the next 3 months so that I can take advantage of special pricing. I am a small person and my height is now 4'9" and the short length has fit me very well. All in all, I am happy to have found the Sigvaris stockings.

I have worn these stockings everyday for over five years. They are more comfortable than the knee highs. They hold up well with never a run.

I have been purchasing Sigvaris surgical compression hose for many years now to prevent blood clots. I've only had 2 times when the product was less than satisfactory due to runs near the toe having only worn them a very few days. I generally purchase them every 6 months, two pair at a time and the service on line has been fine. The last pair I had to send back, I was charged a re-stocking fee (not a pun) which I thought a bit unfair as I'd only worn them 4-5 days when one of the stockings ran near the toe. Ordering online, directly has been a benefit: the surgical supply locally has some availability but not of this quality.

Just love these. They are very durable yet smooth and the silicone border really keeps the stocking up

I had some comfort issues with the shorter version, so thought I would try these. I don't know if I will be wearing them as often when the temperatures rise, but love them now. My legs do not get tired by the end of the day, when I wear them.

Q & A

Ask a Question
3 questions for this item
Q: I just ordered Sigvaris 862NMLW33. Is the silicone border beaded on the inside like the Sigvaris Grip Top style as this is what I need.
A: This item has the silicone border .
Q: on my old box the sku # is 862nss066 . The new one i ordered, the sku # is 862nsl066. are the letters for length?
A: The difference between the two SKUs is the length. Let me break down the SKU: 862NSSO66 862N is the model number for the item, the first S is the size which is small, the second S is for the length which is short, O is for open toe, and 66 is the color which is crispa.
Q: on sizing my thighs are bigger than the chart says all the other measurements fit in the petite area except thighs. the band gets too stretch out. Should I go to a size medium or a small long length
A: Please call us with your measurments for a propper fitting
Questions that are on Your Mind
Q: Can you help me with sizing?
A: You can view the size chart here: size chart
You will need accurate measurements, so first learn how to measure.
Q: What is compression? What is the difference in compression?
A: You wear compression stockings to improve blood flow in your legs. Compression stockings gently squeeze your legs to move blood up your legs. This helps prevent leg swelling and, to a lesser extent, blood clots.
Q: What does mmHg mean?
A: mmhg stands for "millimeter of mercury", a way to measure pressure. The higher the number, the tighter the garment will squeeze and the more compression it provides.
Q: How can we wash the garments? And with which soap or detergent?
A: We recommend to hand wash in warm water and air dry. You can use mild soup of the washing solution that we provide such as the jobst jolastic, hosiery mate washing solution, sigvaris liquid washing solution etc. See our full washing instructions.
Q: What is the difference between open toe and close toe?
A: There is no therapeutic difference between open and closed toe socks. The choice is yours, whichever is more comfortable.
Q: What is opaque?
A: Opaque is a thicker material that provides great coverage and your skin will be far less visible. Usually worn in winter because of the thickness.
Q: What is sheer?
A: Sheer is a thinner, dressier material. Customer usually like these because they can use them as dress socks for work or church.
Q: Do I get compression at the toe area?
A: No. Compression begins at the ankle and gradually lessens as it goes up the leg. This reduces pooling in the legs and helps the veins return blood to the heart.
Q: Will a thicker material give me more support than the sheer material?
A: No. The compression provided is measured by mmHg and is the same no matter the material. The choice of material is up to you, whichever is more comfortable.
Q: If I get pantyhose will I get more compression than with a knee-hi?
A: No.
