Compression stockings are medical grade devices designed to move blood flow.

Support compression stockings are made available in multiple compression support levels. Most commonly compression support stockings come in mild (8-15 mmHg), Medium (15-20 mmHg), Firm (20-30 mmHg), X-Firm (30-40 mmHg) gradient compression levels.

The benefits of Compression Therapy are plentiful and the reasons vary from person to person why you may choose to wear compression socks or stockings. As shown in the above chart, some of the most prevalent symptoms or conditions that benefit from compression therapy are:

  • Pregnancy related swelling and vein problems
  • Varicose or spider veins
  • Lymphedema or edema
  • Swelling, pain or blood clots in the lower legs, also known as DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis)
  • Poor circulation from sitting for long periods
  • Post-surgical and post-sclerotherapy treatment

It can even be used as a preventive measure to maintain healthy legs for someone who spends extensive amounts of time on their feet. Quite simply, when we stand still for long periods, the forces of gravity increase the pressure within the veins of the legs where the greater effects happen at the ankle and decreases gradually up the leg and body. This pressure depends on the vertical distance of the column of blood from the heart to the foot. That's why gradient compression stockings are designed with the pressure greatest at the ankle and diminishing as it moves up the leg in order to counter the effects of the higher venous pressures.

Compression therapy products are put on in the morning upon arising, which is typically before any significant swelling would occur, and then removed at night. Throughout the day the compression prevents blood from pooling in leg veins, which in turn helps your overall circulation and lessens or eliminates any leg swelling you may have.

When shopping for compression socks or stockings, it is best to measure earlier in the day before swelling builds in the legs. Measurements taken later in the day after swelling occurs may cause you to choose an item that is too large and then not effective.

There are many types of compression socks and stockings available without a prescription and they do offer wide-ranging benefits. Before wearing a compression therapy of 20 mmHg (Firm Compression) and above, it is generally recommended to consult your health care provider to find out if graduated compression stockings are right for you. If the answer is yes, they can tell you what pressure grade you should buy for maximum benefit and relief.

The Juzo arm sleeve ad gives a price per pair. Is that correct? Asked by Bruce

Unfortunately, the Juzo arm sleeve is not sold per pair. It is sold individually.

Please keep my 2/2022 review up and running. Newer silicone band leaves less bulge near armpit and marks go away fast....lymph not pooling in armpit. Said that already so just keep my 2/2022.

    same as 2/22

Keep my 2/2022 because clothing manufacturers could do much better adding a little more fabric in elbow and at wrist. Just a Note: Great pricing but I miss out on sales because I don't need to re-order. Auto save me a bit at re-order just because I'm a long time very satisfied customer.

Juzo 2002 is the best arm compression sleeve i've had...i've stuck with Juzo for 20 yrs. the Soft with the small dots silicone band stays up, supports and compresses my elbow swelling, and goes on so easily (i do use the EZ As compression garment applicator) with just a bit of gentle adjustment with the glove. there is no swelling of hand or below shoulder. i still need to massage every 2-3 days. i buy 3 sleeves every 6 months. the old ones have plenty of compression for gardening days or dirty work. Juzo sure got it right with the Juzo 2002-Soft.

the measurement guide is very specific and accurate, the material content feels good on my sensitive arm, the compression lasts for at least 6 months with garment bag washing on Quick in warm water and low spin and drying on Quick low temp for 10 min. even after alternating 3 for 6 mos., the old doesn't look all stretched out when compared to the new one. the Juzo 2002 Soft doesn't snag easily in the garden. the Juzo 2002 soft is very light weight....there's no static cling. the struggle of donning and doffing is a thing of the past.

i wear a long lll; i have to stretch the wrist end the first few times i wear new 2002 softs. this isn't really new since i have a very prominent wrist bone and very little swelling. the edge can slip off the bone onto the wrist, and i need to pull it down. which brings me to the real problem of the construction of women's clothing sleeves. i'm accustomed to long sleeves being too short; i buy men's casual long sleeved shirts most often because they accommodate the compression sleeve with less pulling and readjusting. that's been my solution for increased comfort wearing a compression sleeve.

Juzo feels silky soft 0 people found this helpful

I've needed arm sleeve support for Lymphedema since breast cancer surgery 15 years ago. This model of Juzo support sleeve is by far the most comfortable one yet. It feels like silk when on, I actually forget I'm wearing it! I've worn other brands in the past, but none compare with this JUZO SOFT sleeve. I am delighted with the improvement in this product. Thanks!
